- Course Conclusion1
No formal qualifications are required to get started but you’ll need to complete a few essential training courses, like paediatric first aid and safeguarding. This course will show you exactly what’s needed and where to get it.
Yes. If you’re in England, the course walks you through the full Ofsted registration process, including what to expect during your pre-registration visit. If you’re registering with a childminder agency instead, we explain that route too.
Yes! While most examples are based on England’s system (Ofsted), we provide guidance for all UK nations and explain who you need to register with in your area.
Yes. Many successful childminders live in flats or small homes. You don’t need a big house, just a safe, welcoming space. We’ll show you how to make the most of what you have and what Ofsted (or your regulator) is actually looking for.
On average, it takes 2 to 4 months from starting the course to completing your registration, depending on how quickly you complete training and how long your DBS and pre-registration checks take. This course helps you stay on track and avoid delays.
No, you can register directly with Ofsted (or your local regulator if outside England), and this course is designed to help you do exactly that. Many people mistakenly think they must go through a childminding agency but it’s not required, and doing it yourself saves ongoing fees.
That said, agencies do offer benefits, like extra support and admin help, which some people prefer. This course explains both routes clearly so you can make the right decision for you.
It depends on your area, how many children you care for, and your hours. Many childminders earn £1,500–£3,000/month, especially if they work full-time or offer wraparound care. We show you how to price your services and grow your income over time.
As you grow and hire assistants you can earn a lot more - which I will show you how.
Yes. You can take it at your own speed and revisit any part at any time. There’s no time limit and you’ll get lifetime access to all updates.
Absolutely. This course lays a perfect foundation and we even include a bonus module on how to grow from childminder to nursery owner, plus links to further training and mentorship if you’re ready later.
You’re not alone. While this is a self-guided course, we offer optional 1-to-1 support and mentoring if you need extra help. Details are provided at the end of the course if you’d like to explore that.
